VICRYL® (polyglactin 910) is one of the most widely used absorbable surgical sutures in the world — a coated, braided synthetic suture trusted for dependable soft-tissue approximation and ligation.
VICRYL is absorbed by hydrolysis with predictable tensile-strength loss over roughly two to three weeks and full absorption in about 56–70 days, making it ideal where temporary support is needed without a second procedure to remove the suture. The braided, coated construction gives smooth tissue passage and secure knot tie-down.
VICRYL Plus adds a triclosan antibacterial coating that inhibits bacterial colonisation of the suture, an option many surgical teams prefer for procedures where surgical-site infection risk is a concern.
